PN-G softball wins in tournament

PORT ARTHUR — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians moved to 5-7 overall for the season after a 12-4 win Friday morning against Cuero at the A&M Consolidated Tournament.

Katie Lee smashed a three-run homer in a 10-run fourth inning. She finished 2-for-3 at the plate while teammate Maci Dean and Avery Hooks were both 3-for-3. Hooks had two doubles.

Shelby Valentine started the game and struck out three batters and Madison Resch came in to pitch in the third inning. She had four strike outs and three walks.

PN-G will face Dripping Springs at 11 a.m. Saturday and then play Brenham at 1 p.m. to finish off the tournament.

PAM baseball loses twice

Port Arthur Memorial’s Titans baseball team went 0-for-2 Friday at the Baytown Tournament.

Memorial first fell to Langham Creek, 14-0, as Devuan Anderson, Jose Perez and Joe Chretien each were 1-for-2.

Memorial’s offense picked it up later against Galveston Ball yet lost, 14-9.

Gama Martinez had two doubles and was 3-for-4 while Robert Howard was 1-for-2 with a 3-run homer. He finished with four RBI.

Mario Dublon and Abraham Cuevas both had one hit and a RBI. Chretien was 1-for-2 with a double.
