Nederland, Port Neches-Groves baseball set playoff information

NEDERLAND — Both the Nederland and Port Neches-Groves baseball teams moved on to the Class 4A area round last weekend. On Monday, they both set up those area series in the Houston area.

PN-G (16-12) will face Georgetown in a one-game series at 7 p.m. Friday at New Caney's Adam Dunn Field. Georgetown swept a three-game series against Caney Creek, winning the first game 9-1 and the second 10-3. The Indians advanced past Humble Summer Creek with a 8-4 victory in a one-game series at Baytown Sterling last Friday.

Nederland (24-5) will play the Hutto Hippos in a three-game series starting at 7 p.m. Friday at the Baseball USA complex in Houston. Game 2 will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday with Game 3, if necessary, played thirty minutes after the end of Game 2. Baseball USA is a 35-acre baseball complex in northwest Houston that features 11 playing fields with turf infields. That's important with the threat of rain in the area this weekend.

Hutto (17-13) topped Magnolia in a three-game series, beating the Bulldogs 4-1 on Saturday to advance to the area round.
