Tatum Kieschnick’s free kick in the 59th minute enabled Nederland to score the night’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Port Neches-Groves at Prather Field.
A versatile sophomore midfielder, Kieschnick knocked home a shot from about 25 yards to deliver the night’s only goal.
The combination of Nederland’s win and Vidor’s win over Hamshire-Fannett enabled PN-G, Nederland and Vidor to finish in a three-way tie for the 38-4A girls soccer championship with 35 points apiece.
PN-G has become the top seed from 38-4A. The Lady Indians (21-3-1) will meet Silsbee on Monday at 6:30 in the 4A bidistrict round at Beaumont’s Thomas Center.
Vidor, the second seed, will play Hardin-Jefferson. Nederland, the third seed, will face Jasper on Monday or Tuesday and H-F will face 37-4A champion Lumberton.
“I think this was our best game so far this season,” fourth-year head coach Keith Barrow said. “We moved the ball around better and connected on more passes.
“I thought it was one of our more physical games.”
