PORT ARTHUR —
Memorial’s Kameron Martin runs wild
There was not enough written this past weekend on the job Port Arthur Memorial running back Kameron Martin did against Houston Bellaire Friday night.
Martin ran for 217 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries, yet it was not enough as Bellaire won 45-42. Martin’s performance was spectacular and had the press box buzzing with thoughts of the DI scholarships Martin will probably see soon.
To put Martin’s performance into perspective, Memorial as a team rushed for 222 yards the week before. Great job by this young man.
Friday’s field goal was not a freebie
Ricardo Estupinan’s missed field goal at the end was probably given too much play this past weekend. Estupinan missed a field goal which would have tied the score with time winding down.
Let us stress the difficulty of the kick and the reality many other factors led to the Memorial loss. The missed field goal hurt, yet if the Titans had one less turnover or another stop on defense the kick would maybe never been attempted and the Titans would possibly had won the game.
Estupinan is a tremendous kicker with a huge leg and like Martin should see some D1 interest in the near future.
