Lady Indians split games in Baytown

BAYTOWN — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians notched their first win under first-year Coach Jessica Lemoine at the Goose Creek/Baytown Sterling Tournament.

PN-G first though was defeated by Dickinson, 4-3.

Senior Shelby Valentine worked all the innings on the mound for PN-G and struck out five batters and gave up six hits.

Dickinson scored a run in each the first and fifth innings. PN-G picked up one in the third and took a 3-2 lead in the sixth.

Dickinson then scored two runs in the seventh to snatch the win.

Avery Hooks, Madison Resch and Ashton Yanta all had a double and a RBI for the Lady Indians.

The celebratory win came against Baytown Sterling as the Lady Indians were victorious, 4-2.

Resch was the winning pitcher after giving up eight hits and striking out a batter.

Tori Jackson was 2-for-4 at the plate and stroked a home run in the third to go with two runs scored in the game.

Bailey Crorey was also 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored while teammate Katie Lee had a double.

The Lady Indians return to the tournament Saturday with a 12:30 p.m. game against Huffman and a 3 p.m. game against Clear Lake.
