Nederland boys 7, Bridge City 2
BRIDGE CITY — Nederland’s offense unleashed 26 shots, including 17 of them on goal Tuesday night, as the Bulldogs defeated Bridge City in a 38-4A boys soccer game.
Nederland received one goal in each half from standout junior scorer Adam Richard. The Dogs (7-1 and 3-0) led only 2-0 at half and busted the scoring ice in the 10th minute on a goal by Alex Cazares.
Richard, Dylan Weeks, Christian Contreras, Cory Binagia and Ryan Roebuck completed the second-half scoring for Nederland.
BC scored twice in the second half.
NHS hosts Beaumont Ozen in Bulldog Stadium on Friday night at 6 p.m.
Beaumont Central boys 1, PN-G 0, Shootout
BEAUMONT — Host Beaumont Central battled Port Neches-Groves to scoreless tie through regulation and overtime before downing the Indians in a shootout on Tuesday night at Zaharias Stadium.
PN-G (9-1-3 and 1-1-1) will visit Bridge City on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Deer Park boys 4, Port Arthur Memorial 0
Deer Park scored twice in each half and claimed a 21-5A district-opening boys soccer victory over Port Arthur Memorial on Tuesday night in Memorial Stadium.
A hamstring injury to junior Port Arthur sparkplug Jose Manuel Figueroa in the first half proved to be an unsettling moment in this home outing for coach Clint Hoverson’s team.
“That was a really tough moment and it looks like Figueroa will be out at least a week, maybe longer, Hoverson said.
Deer Park thoroughly dominated shots on goal at least 16 to 3 or more.
Memorial (3-2-1 and 0-1) will go to Channelview on Friday at 7 p.m.
Nederland girls 5, Bridge City 1
NEDERLAND — It’s been a grind to get there but Nederland’s girls finally have lifted their overall season soccer record above the .500 mark.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-4 on Tuesday night by roaring to a 4-0 halftime advantage and raising its 38-4A district mark to 3-0 in Bulldog Stadium.
Kirsten Diaz scored twice for coach Keith Barrow’s team while Logan Kemp, Tatum Kieschnick and Katelyn Manley.
Claudia Williams converted the lone goal for coach Rhonda Davis’ Lady Cardinals.
Port Neches-Groves girls 7, Beaumont Central 0
PORT NECHES — Mikayla Johnson and Hannah Higgins did all the scoring and combined to guide PN-G over Central on The Reservation Tuesday night.
Johnson scored four and Higgins added three as coach Aimee Bates watched her Lady Indians improve to 12-1 and 3-0 in 38-4A.
The PN-G girls go to Bridge City on Friday night.
Deer Park girls 5, Port Arthur Memorial 0
DEER PARK — Deer Park rolled to three first-half goals and notched a 21-5A district-opening girls soccer victory over Port Arthur Memorial on Tuesday night.
The Deer Park dominated shots on goal, 18-4, and a key play resulted with eight minutes left in the opening half as a DP shot slipped off the Lady Titans goalkeeper’s and into the net.
The Lady Titans (3-3 and 0-1) return home Friday night to face Channelview in Memorial Stadium.
