Jamaal Charles nominated for ESPY, fans can vote online

KANSAS CITY —     KANSAS CITY — Was Jamaal Charles the NFL’s best player in 2013? The ESPY’s think he’s at least in the top five.

ESPN announced Tuesday the nominees for their 2014 version of the ESPY’s and Kansas City’s elite running back made the cut for the best player in the NFL. Charles is up against Peyton Manning, LeSean McCoy,  Russell Wilson and Luke Kuechly for the award.

There is no no doubt Charles was amazing last season, and one could make a strong arugment he should have been the MVP of the NFL. Where would the Chiefs have been if Charles was not on this team?

Charles accumulated 1,980 yards from scrimmage (1,287 rushing, 693 receiving) with 19 total touchdowns. Had he played the final game of the regular season, he would likely have become the 10th player to accumulate 2,000 yards from scrimmage and  20 touchdowns in a single season, and the first to do it since 2006.

For his efforts, he was named to the Associated Press All-Pro team for the second time, was selected to the Pro Bowl for a third time and was chosen the Fantasy Player of the Year.

Charles fans who want to help his chances of winning the award should vote early and often for him at
