PORT NECHES — Even if it was only for three innings, Port Neches-Groves pitcher Shelby Valentine can always say she pitched a perfect game.
Valentine allowed no baserunners Friday in the Lady Indians 15-0 win over Beaumont Ozen. The win coupled with losses by Lumberton and Livingston means PN-G is alone in fourth place with a 6-7 District 20-4A record heading into Tuesday’s critical game at Livingston. A win puts the Lady Indians into the playoffs.
Valentine struck out four batters in the win.
Maci Dean was 2-for-2 at the plate with two triples and three runs, Katie Lee was 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs and Breanna Brown was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI. a stolen base and one run. Bailey Crorey was 1-for-2 with a triple and a RBI, Taylor Thompson was 1-for-2 with a run and Kennah Belaire was 1-for-1.
Bridge City 11, Silsbee 0
BRIDGE CITY — Lady Cardinal Softball Field turned into a Home Run Derby for the Bridge City Lady Cardinals as they hammered the Silsbee Lady Tigers 11-0 in District 21-3A action Friday night.
Kasey Frederick led the Lady Cardinals (20-8, 7-3) as she belted two home runs, one of them a grand slam and the other a two-run shot.
Kelsey Fults and Hanna Carpenter got in on the act with solo home runs of their own as BC cruised in five innings.
Capenter was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Frederick and Fults both went 2-for-3. Kaleigh Carter was also 2-for-3 with a double.
Kellyn Cormier added a hit and also got the win on the mound as she scattered four hits and struck out four.
The Lady Cardinals will host Hamshire-Fannett Tuesday and Hardin-Jefferson next Thursday and can clinch second place in 21-3A if they win those two games.
