PORT ARTHUR — Port Arthur Memorial senior defensive back Jalen Barnes has committed to Iowa State, according to head coach Kenny Harrison. The 6-foot-1, 185 pound safety had changed his Twitter profile to indicate he was a member of the 2013 Iowa State recruiting class last week, but hadn’t made the official commitment until Wednesday.

Barnes moved from cornerback to free safety this season and has enjoyed quite a bit of success. He’s third on the Titans with 49 tackles and had four pass breakups, one interception and one tackle for a loss this season.

He marks the fourth Titan player to commit this season, joining Darius Lemora (Washington State), Brandon Leday (Morgan State) and Devin Cockrell (Morgan State). He is the 21st member of the Cyclones recruiting class and is the seventh player from Texas in the class.
