DAVID COLEMAN: How area players fared in college games


Here are the efforts by former Southeast Texas players in the collegiate ranks over the Oct. 20 weekend. Players are included when they record statistics, start the game or reach career milestones. Players who are being redshirted or do not play are not included.

Four Year Colleges

Michael Barnes, Missouri Valley College, DB (Central): Barnes made one tackle in the 39-7 victory over Graceland, giving him 36 tackles this season.

Reggie Begelton, Lamar, WR (West Brook): Begelton caught five passes for 50 yards in the 24-14 loss to Central Arkansas. The redshirt freshman has 15 catches for 121 yards this season.

Nick Bryant, Stephen F. Austin, LB (West Brook): Bryant had two tackles in the 44-10 victory over Nicholls State, giving him three tackles this season.

Joshua Chatman, McMurry, WR (West Brook): Chatman had four catches for 21 yards in the 28-20 victory over Incarnate Word. The senior has 26 catches for 230 yards and one TDs this season.

Blake Chavis, Lamar, DL (West Brook): Chavis had one tackle in the 24-14 loss to Central Arkansas, giving him 15 tackles this season.

Terrell Clark, Grand View, LB (Memorial):  Clark had two tackles in the 37-25 victory over Siena Heights, giving him five tackles this season.

Collin Garrett, Stephen F. Austin, LB (West Brook): Garrett led the Lumberjacks with 10 tackles and had a forced fumble in the 44-10 victory over Nicholls State. The sophomore has 66 tackles, including seven for a loss, one pass broken up and one forced fumble this season.

DePauldrick Garrett, Lamar, RB (West Orange-Stark): Garrett had 25 carries for 91 yards and a TD in the 24-14 loss to Central Arkansas. The junior has 323 rushing yards and two TDs this season.

Ben Goodman, Kansas, DE (West Brook): Goodman had a sack in the 52-7 loss to No. 9 Oklahoma, giving him nine tackles this season.

Ryan Grant, Tulane, WR (West Brook): Grant caught six passes for 115 yards and a TD in the 24-20 loss to Texas-El Paso. The senior has 31 catches for 474 yards and three TDs this season.
