PORT ARTHUR —
Titans seeking win over La Porte
Now that the Titans have clinched a spot in the postseason, Memorial is hoping to secure its first ever district win over the La Porte Bulldogs.
The Titans have defeated the Bulldogs before but it came in the state quarterfinals in 2011. That year the Titans defeated the Bulldogs 34-6 to reach the semifinals. La Porte had defeated Memorial, 24-20 earlier in the year.
A win over La Porte would more than likely mean the Titans would face Pasadena Memorial in the first round of the playoffs. This is important because it would enable Memorial to avoid Manvel.
Manvel destroyed Pearland 42-7 this past Friday to take control of the District 22-5A race with a 6-0 record.
Why is this important?
One quick look at the Manvel statistics shows it has thrown for 2,276 yards and rushed for 1,803 yards.
This is not the type of first round opponent any team in the state of Texas wants to see on the schedule.
