PN-G loses on road in Livingston

LIVINGSTON — The Port Neches-Groves baseball team lost 2-1 to Livingston on Friday in District 20-4A play.

The Indians scored a run in the top of the first, but were blanked the rest of the way by Livingston’s pitching staff. Lance Ledoux started for PN-G.

PN-G (10-10, 5-2) will travel to Lumberton at 3 p.m. Saturday.



Memorial falls to Deer Park

The Port Arthur Memorial baseball team lost 10-1 to Deer Park on Friday in District 21-5A play.

Memorial starter Jonathan Sanchez threw 3 2/3 innings while allowing five runs and six hits. Teammate Robert Howard was 2 for 3 while Gama Martinez, Ramiro Sanchez and Abraham Cuevas each went 1 for 3.

Memorial (9-10, 2-5) will travel to Channelview at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Nederland loses to LC-M

NEDERLAND — The Nederland softball team lost 6-1 to Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday in District 20-4A play.

Third baseman Kelsey Beard drove in Nederland’s only run with an RBI double in the bottom of the first. LC-M’s Raven Cole struck out 13 in a complete-game victory, giving up two hits and one run.

Nederland (19-8, 7-3) will host Port Neches-Groves at 7 p.m. Saturday in the second installment of Mid-County Madness. Nederland will honor 10-year old Ashley Watt before the game as part of Brooke’s Believers Charity Groups benefit for the Highland Park youngster that will take place on April 20.

Watt will throw out the first pitch at the game and be honored along with her mother, Ginger, and the rest of her family. The Nederland players will also be wearing Brooke’s Believers t-shirts during warm-ups for the game.



PN-G beats Central

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves softball team beat Beaumont Central on Friday in District 20-4A play. PN-G snapped a two-game skid in district play with the victory.

The Lady Indians (14-9, 6-4) will travel to Nederland at 7 p.m. Saturday for the second half of Mid-County Madness.
