DAVID COLEMAN: How area players fared in college games

PORT ARTHUR — Here are the efforts by former Southeast Texas players in the collegiate ranks over the Nov. 17 weekend. Players are included when they record statistics, start the game or reach career milestones. Players who are being redshirted or do not play are not included.



Four Year Colleges



Michael Barnes, Missouri Valley College, DB (Central): Barnes had seven tackles in the 56-21 victory over Ottawa (Kan.) in the opening round of the NAIA Championship Series.



Trevor Bell, Columbia, WR (Hamshire-Fannett): Bell returned three kickoffs for 53 yards in the 22-6 loss to Brown. The true freshman led the Lions by averaging 22.8 yards on nine kick returns this season.



Jacoby Bellard, Missouri Valley College, WR (Ozen): Bellard had one catch for 19 yards in the 56-21 victory over Ottawa (Kan.) in the opening round of the NAIA Championship Series.



Harry Brown, Texas Southern, QB (Memorial): Brown had two catches for 80 yards in the 34-3 loss to Mississippi Valley State. The senior has 24 catches for 336 yards and one TD this season.



Joshua Chatman, McMurry, WR (West Brook): Chatman had three catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-3 victory over the University of Mexico. The senior has 40 catches for 404 yards with four TDs this season.



Desmond Gardiner, Texas A&M, DB (Memorial): Gardiner had one tackle in the 47-28 victory over Sam Houston State, giving him four tackles this season.



Collin Garrett, Stephen F. Austin, LB (West Brook): Garrett had seven tackles in the 34-17 victory over Northwestern State. The sophomore finished the season with a team-leading 96 tackles, including 10 for a loss, one sack, one interception, three PBUs and a forced fumble.



DePauldrick Garrett, Lamar, RB (West Orange-Stark): Garrett had 112 rushing yards in the 35-0 loss to McNeese State. The redshirt junior finished the season with 585 rushing yards and two TDs.



Ben Goodman, Kansas, DE (West Brook): Goodman had five tackles in the 51-23 loss to Iowa State, giving him 18 tackles this season.



Ryan Grant, Tulane, WR (West Brook): Grant had 10 catches for 94 yards in the 28-23 loss to East Carolina. The senior has 63 catches for 1,041 yards and six TDs this season.



Adrian Guillory, Lamar, DB (Central): Guillory had one tackle in the 35-0 loss to McNeese State, giving him 43 tackles this season.



Ortavious Hypolite, Stephen F. Austin, DB (West Orange-Stark): Hypolite had one tackle in the 34-17 victory over Northwestern State, giving him 14 tackles this season.



Willie Jefferson, Stephen F. Austin, DE (Ozen): Jefferson had two tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, two sacks and a pass breakup in the tackle in the 34-17 victory over Northwestern State. The senior finished the season with 36 tackles, including 12 for a loss, eight sacks, three PBUs, five quarterback hits and five forced fumbles.



Marcus Malbrough, Lamar, DL (West Brook): Malbrough had three tackles, one sack and one quarterback hit in the 35-0 loss to McNeese State. The senior finished the season with 25 tackles, including seven for a loss, four sacks, one PBU, one forced fumble and seven quarterback hits.



Vance McDonald, Rice, TE (East Chambers): McDonald had seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown in the 36-14 victory over Southern Methodist. The senior was playing for the first time in three games after suffering a toe injury against Texas-San Antonio. McDonald has 26 catches for 334 yards and two TDs this season.



Christine Michael, Texas A&M, RB (West Brook): Michael had three carries for 9 yards in the 47-28 victory over Sam Houston State.



Mark Murrill, Lamar, DT (Lumberton): Murrill had one tackle in the 35-0 loss to McNeese State, giving him 37 tackles this season.



Keith O'Neal, Missouri Valley College, RB (Central): O’Neal had seven carries for 46 yards and a TD in the 56-21 victory over Ottawa (Kan.) in the opening round of the NAIA Championship Series.



John Prescott, Lamar, DL (Ozen): Prescott had two tackles in the 35-0 loss to McNeese State, giving him 32 tackles this season.



Chris Raggett, McNeese State, S (Ozen): Raggett had seven tackles, including one for a loss, in the 35-0 victory over Lamar, giving him 46 tackles this season.



Taylor Reed, Southern Methodist, LB (West Brook): Reed made 11 taclkes, inlcuding two for a loss, in the 36-14 loss to Rice, giving him 76 tackles this season.



Bruce Reyes, Missouri Valley College, QB (West Brook): Reyes threw for 152 yards and rushed for 11 yards and a in the 56-21 victory over Ottawa (Kan.) in the opening round of the NAIA Championship Series.



Jarrian Rhone, West Texas A&M, WR (Silsbee): Rhone had two catches for 58 yards in the 38-30 victory over No. 20 Chadron State in the NCAA Super Region Four tournament. The freshman has 38 catches for 434 yards and three TDs this season.



Elandon Roberts, Morgan State, LB (Memorial): Roberts had a season-high 19 tackles and a sack in the 27-17 loss to Hampton. The true freshman finished the season with 107 tackles, including nine for a loss, two sacks, one interception, two PBUs and two quarterback hits. Roberts was also named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List. In its second year, the Rice Award is given to the top freshman in the nation from the Football Championship Subdivision.



Radermon Scypion, Houston, DL (Memorial): Scypion had four tackles, including one for a loss, in the 44-41 loss to Marshall, giving him 26 tackles this season.



Branden Thomas, Lamar, DB (Central): Thomas had two tackles in the 35-0 loss to McNeese State, giving him 45 tackles this season.



Seth Thomas, McNeese State, CB (West Orange-Stark): Thomas had two tackles in the 35-0 victory voer Lamar, giving him 42 tackles this season.



Jonathan Ward, Texas State, DE (Lumberton): Ward had 10 tackles, including one for a loss, in the 21-10 loss to Navy, giving him 15 tackles this season.



Steven White, Texas Southern, DB (Memorial): White had four tackles in the 34-3 loss to Mississippi Valley State, giving him 34 tackles this season.
