Cooper, Lady Dogs defeat Livingston

NEDERLAND — Tori Cooper remained on fire Friday night and pitcher Madyson Guidry also caught a spark against Livingston.

The Lady Bulldogs picked up a 10-4 win over the Lady Lions. Nederland is now 15-7 overall and 7-2 in District 20-4A action. Livingston fell to 3-6 in league play.

Cooper led the game off with a home run and went 2-for-3 in the game with three runs and two RBI. She pitched the final two innings and gave up one hit, not runs and one walk with two strike outs.

Guidry worked the first five innings and struck out 10 batters while giving up four hits, four runs (three earned) and five walks.

Nederland scored five runs in the sixth inning off a  RBI single by Brixie Gallier, a two-run single by Cooper and a two-run double from Kelsey Beard. There were four lead changes in the contest.

Savana Guidry was 3-for-4 with two runs and a double while Beard finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Nederland returns to action Friday, April 4 with a game at Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville 3, Port Neches-Groves 0

LITTLE CYPRESS — Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Mikaela Stegall provided the offense Friday against Port Neches-Groves and Hope Russell did her part on the mound.

The No. 18 Lady Bears defeated the Lady Indians, 3-0, to move to 7-2 in District 20-4A play. PN-G is now 4-5.

Stegall hit a two-run triple in the fifth and Russell followed that up with a RBI to score Stegall as LC-M scored all its runs in the inning.

Russell struck out seven batters and allowed two hits and no walks.

Bailey Crorey and Katie Lee were the PN-G batters to get hits.

PN-G’s Maci Dean struck out eight batters and walked two.

Both teams are off until next Friday due to testing. PN-G will be at Beaumont Central for a 5 p.m. game, varsity only, while LC-M will be at home to face Nederland.

In other softball action, the Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans fell to Deer Park 17-0. Memorial returns to play Tuesday at home against Channelview.
