Don't give up, don't ever give up." Those are the famous words from the acceptance speech Jimmy Valvano gave during the 1993 ESPY Awards when he received the Arthur Ash Courage Award.

It was the highlight of a 10-minute speech that brought laughs and tears from everyone. It is the words that inspired the V Foundation, a foundation that has inspired miracles for more than a decade.

They are the same words that have become part of Kevin Everett's life, as he has had to cope and recover from a hit he endured during the opening game of the NFL season last year in Buffalo.

In that game, the former Bills tight end, took a hit that crushed his spinal cord (a fracture to the cervical spine). It was an injury that no one expected him to walk away from, not even the doctors that operated on him.

Only months later, however, that was just what Everett was doing — walking. And walking is only part of The Kevin Everett Miracle.

"Pray," Everett said at his second Skills Camp on Monday. "Pray. Thank God for the blessings and ask for His help. That's all I can do. This has been extremely hectic and hard but you can't led things get you down. You have to stay positive. The pain is just mind over matter and I won't quit."

Everett has dedicated his present and future life to helping others who are or who have dealt with similar injuries as the one he suffered some nine months ago.

Everett wishes to supply ramps, wheelchairs, exercise equipment and to donate money for those who need operations in regard to spinal cord injuries.

On Monday, with the help of the Kevin Everett Foundation, Everett handed Jermichael Moody of Port Arthur a $2,000 check at the Memorial Titans football field, the field that used to be home to Everett when he lined up for Thomas Jefferson.

Also on Monday, Everett was playing host in the second Kevin Everett Skills camp where more than 350 kids aging from 7-18 flocked at the chance to learn football skills from proven athletes such as TJ's former running back James Johnson, who was a free agent signee of the Cincinnati Bengals in April.

The check donation and camp is just a small sample of the good Everett has caused. He has given speeches, appeared on Oprah, where he further talked about his foundation, the foundation which put on a golf tournament in Buffalo where money and awareness was raised for the foundation.

Everett's agent, Eric Armstead, who recruited Everett at Miami University, said "the foundation will only continue to grow and that Kevin has the type of character that will make the foundation a great success."
