All but one spot in Nederland's lineup reached base. Five different Bulldogs scored runs. Bellow's (Williamson) spot in the order scored twice. He went 1-for-4 at the plate with a two-out single in the fifth.

     Trey Terracina provided the Dogs final RBI of the night by pushing Williamson across in the seventh to make the score 5-2. Cardenas also scored on that play as Terracina reached first on a throwing error by shortstop Michael Ruiz.

     Bellow reached base that inning on an error as well. That error allowed Pitts, who singled to start the inning, to move to third. Pitts made the score 4-2 on Cardenas' RBI single.

    Perhaps the best news in regards to Nederland's Game 1 victory was that it forced Friendswood to use a second pitcher, as Preston Schulze had to come on for the entire seventh. He inherited a 5-0 defecit with two runners on and nobody out.

    Schulze will likely throw again but Nederland should have the advantage, as it only needs one win and has all but Bellow available in the pitching staff.

    Josh Dean will get the knod for Game 2, which will start at 7:30 p.m. at Cougar Field. He is 8-0 on the season with a 1.33 ERA. If Nederland wins, it will move onto the regional finals to face either Brenham or Waltrip. A loss, however, will force a third game, which will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
