Anders seeks spot on PN Council

PORT NECHES — Former teacher and current sales representative Adam Anders has spent years working with people of all ages and now he’s ready to bring that skill to Port Neches City Council.

Anders, 40, is running for the Place 2 seat on Port Neches City Council.

“I want to get involved with what’s going on along the river and to serve the citizens of Port Neches,” Anders said.

A teacher for four years, Anders now works as a pharmaceutical sales rep, which lends him an opportunity that’s unique in both his personal and professional life.

“I can connect with people across age groups,” he said, adding that he can take his background and use it to connect with others from different backgrounds to achieve a common goal.

While he doesn’t have a platform per se, he does have a few issues he feels strongly about.

“Number one, fiscal responsibility. Take care of the city’s money and be responsible with tax dollars, which in turn brings economic growth,” he said. “The river offers a good opportunity to bring businesses into the community and generate tax dollars back to the community.”

Anders is in favor of the up-and-coming development along the riverfront of The Wheel House restaurant. The restaurant, he said, will not only give hometown folks a place to eat but attract others to the city who in turn will spend  dollars there.

Anders grew up in Kountze and chose Port Neches as a city to move to and raise a family. Through the years he has been actively involved with Port Neches Little League, Little Dribblers and youth football and coached in all of the sports.

Anders and his wife, Sheri, have been married 15 years and have three sons, ages 7, 9, and 13. They are members of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.
