Officials are getting ready for the Annual Riverfest at Port Neches Park April 28th – May 1st, 2011.
The Festival will have a variety of Food Vendors as well as Arts and Crafts Vendors and the famous Mighty Thomas Carnival for a ton of family fun.
On Saturday, April 30, at the Pavilion there will be lots of local talent performing. Also, In the Park the Annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Show.
Sunday, May 1st the 2011 Mother of the Year will be announced!
Other scheduled events are the Hoop-It-Up Basketball Tournament, Battle of the Bands, Pet Show, Treasure Hunt, 2-day Fishing Tournament, Special Needs Day & Hughen School Fishing, PN Mother of the Year Contest, Horseshoe & Washer Tournament, and a Fireworks Display.
Live Entertainment on the main stage will include Wayne Toups & Zydecajun on Thursday night, and Kevin Fowler on Friday night. Kevin Fowler is best-known for his chart-topping singles "Ain't Drinkin' Anymore" (2004) and "Best Mistake I Ever Made" (2008). In 2010, Fowler’s single "Pound Sign" became his first Top 40 country hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Craig Morgan, owner of 14 Top 10 hits on the country charts, will perform on Saturday night.
The Chamber will also present “Thunder on the Neches” power boat races produced by John Schubert with Southern Professional Outboard Racing Tours.
Races will start Saturday, April 30th at 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and continue Sunday, May 1st from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
There will be an all-inclusive pass for the boat races and entertainment this year. The entire River Front will be fenced off and the purchase of a wristband gets you in the gate the entire weekend, Thursday – Saturday! Sunday will be free admission. Prices will be as follows:
General Admission - $10
Children (4-13) and Senior Citizens (65 & up) - $5
* Children under age 3 are Free
The 1st 1,000 Veterans on Saturday will get in free sponsored by Melancon’s Funeral Home! Wristbands will be pre-sold from April 18 - 25, 2011 to help you avoid the lines at the festival.
There will be free parking with trolley transportation.
