Anders, McMahon earn spots on PN Council

— The heated race for two spots on Port Neches City Council is over with two newcomers coming on board.

Adam Anders unseated incumbent Roy A. Hollier for the Place 2 seat while Chris McMahon came in ahead of his opponent Kim Hall for the Place 1 seat.

Anders brought in 568 votes or 52.25 percent of the total ballots cast while Hollier garnered 519 votes or 47.75 percent of the total ballots cast. Only one vote separated the two candidates in early voting.

“I want to thank everyone who supported me throughout this campaign,” Anders said. “I want to thank all who came out to vote and I look forward to serving all the citizens of Port Neches.”

Anders, 40, is a former teacher and currently a sales representative. He and his wife, Sheri, have been married 15 years and have three sons, ages 7, 9, and 13. They are members of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.

McMahon brought in 529 votes or 51.66 percent of the total ballots cast while Hall came in with 495 votes or 48.34 percent of the total ballots cast.

“I want to thank the community for their votes and thank my family and friends. Without them obviously this would not have been possible,” McMahon said. “”And most importantly I want to thank my wife Gina who stood by me and has been a rock by my side. I can’t wait to get in there and help the city of Port Neches move forward and be  a pillar of the community.”

McMahon, 45, is the chief operations officer at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas and has more than 20 years experience in the healthcare business.

He will take the seat vacated when longtime Place 1 Councilmember Terry Schwertner decided not run for re-election.

He and his wife, Gina, have three children and are members of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.

Councilmembers in Port Neches serve staggered three-year terms and seats are at-large.
