Robert Arnold wins PN Place 4, unseats incumbent Don Anglin

PORT NECHES — Political newcomer Robert Arnold unseated incumbent Don Anglin for the Place 4 seat on Port Neches City Council.

Arnold pulled in 789 votes in Tuesday’s election while Anglin brought in 371 of the total 1,170 ballots cast. Arnold pulled ahead during early voting with a total of 529 votes compared with 180 ballots cast for Anglin.

Arnold, 58, is a retired Port Neches Police officer with 29 years of service to the department. After retiring from PNPD he worked as an office manager at Arnold and Associates.

“I’m very excited,” Arnold said after the unofficial election returns were released Tuesday night. “I’m pleased with the results and I’m looking forward to serving the citizens of Port Neches.”

Councilmembers in Port Neches serve staggered three-year terms and all elected officials are voted at-large.

A 1973 graduate of Nederland High School, Arnold attended Lamar University before beginning his service as a police officer.

Arnold is a member of First United Methodist Church in Port Neches and has worked with the church youth program for 20 years. He is a member of Port Neches Masonic Lodge, was named Rotary Distinguished Citizen of the Year in 2007, cooked for Project Graduation since 1991 and is a lifetime PTA member.

While an officer, Arnold worked with the Chicken Club for 12 years and served as a DARE officer and a K9 officer. He is endorsed by both the Port Neches Police Association and the Port Neches Fire Association.

Arnold has been married to his wife, Rhonda, for 37 years and the couple have two daughters, Misty and Mandy, and three granddaughters, Emmie, Josalyn and Hannelore.
