Two Groves teens were arrested after Port Neches Police investigated possible auto burglaries.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Port Neches Police officers were dispatched to East Kitchen Street and Hughann Street in reference to possible auto burglary suspects.  

The suspects were reported to be driving a white Honda car and upon officers arrival they observed a white Honda four-door stopped on Hughann Street at the intersection of East Kitchen Street. Officers approached the suspect vehicle and a white male passenger fled the scene on foot.  The driver was detained at the scene and was found to be in possession of marijuana.  The driver was handcuffed and placed into the patrol car and officers began a search for the second suspect.  

Officers began a search on Marilyn Ln. and while one officer was out of his patrol car, the suspect in custody, kicked out the side window to the patrol car and escaped. The suspect was apprehended again a short time later.

The second suspect was located at approximately 5 a.m. near the intersection of Park st. and Ave. J in Port Neches.  The second suspect was positively identified as the one that originally ran from the white Honda.  The second suspect was found to be in possession of some unidentified pills and a quart jar containing marijuana.  Both suspects were charged with possession of marijuana and evading arrest/detention.  One suspect was additionally charged with criminal mischief for breaking the side window of the patrol car.  

The suspect vehicle was inventoried and was found to contain electronics that may have been taken during an auto burglary.  Investigators are trying to determine what vehicles they may have burglarized and additional charges are pending.  The suspects are in their late teens and live in the City of Groves. Officers were assisted by Nederland, Groves and Port Arthur officers.
