PORT NECHES — A Port Neches home was the target of a cat burglar who entered the unlocked house while the victim was asleep Friday morning.

The burglary was one of several that have occurred in the city and police are asking residents to lock their homes and vehicles and to report any suspicious activity.

Port Neches Police responded to the burglary of a home in the 2000 block of Ninth Street on Monday morning. The burglar entered the home and stole a TV, jewelry and also burglarized the victim’s vehicle. There was an additional auto burglary in the same block. Officers recovered the victims' identification from a dumpster at Ninth and Magnolia. The burglary occurred sometime between midnight and 4 a.m., PNPD Chief Paul Lemoine said.

An earlier incident occurred at about 2:50 a.m. Monday in the 2600 block of Riveroaks. The homeowner spotted a person trying to enter his garage. The homeowner confronted the male suspect and the suspect fled the area.

“Witnesses in all the burglaries have reported either seeing the suspect or a suspicious suspect in the area at the time of the incidents,” Lemoine said.

Lemoine advised residents to lock their homes and vehicles and report suspicious activity.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6-foot to 6-foot 1-inch, slim to medium build and each time wearing a camouflage hoodie. If anyone sees any suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call the police at 409-722-3122. If you believe there is a crime in progress call 911.
