Transient calls police, turns self in for burglary

PORT ARTHUR — An area transient is behind bars after calling police and turning himself in for the burglary of a storage building Saturday morning.

The man, identified as James Wesson Jr., 51, reportedly informed responding officers of the burglary of a storage facility in the 4800 block of Seventh Street that occurred on Oct. 11, according to a press release from Port Arthur Police Department.

The man took officers to the storage facility and police confirmed the building had been burglarized. Officers then contacted the owner of the storage unit who informed police he did not give anyone permission to enter the building and verified that items were missing.

The suspect was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he was booked in for burglary of a building.
