Walk-a-thon to raise cancer awareness

PORT ARTHUR — Memorial 9th Grade Academy, led by Principal, Dr. Lisa Chambers, will host the Pink Cancer Awareness Walk-a-Thon on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8-11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium. All funds raised from the event will be divided and given to a newly dedicated fund established on behalf of former District employee, Madeline Savoy, established as the “Madeline Savoy PAISD Cancer Fund.” The fund will be available for any current PAISD that is personally fighting and accumulating bills relating to their fight with cancer. The funds will be available for the individual only and not family members.  Winners for Life, established by former District administrator Winnie Frelow, will also receive funds. A special donation will also be given to a current District employee fighting cancer.

All donations are being accepted. For more information, please contact Memorial 9th Grade Academy Assistant Principal, Angel Murphy, at 678-350-5059 or amurphy@paisd.org.
