Summer school begins Monday, June 13, and ends July 7 for PAISD students. Registration for middle and high school students will be June 7-8th for grades six through eight at Abraham Lincoln Middle and grades nine through 12 at Memorial High from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. Transportation will be provided for all students at all grade levels.
The summer school program will include Title I summer program, optional extended year program, bilingual program, free summer school for middle school program and both free and tuition-required summer school program for high school students.
Travis and Lee Elementary students will attend summer school on the Travis campus from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Washington and DeQueen students will attend summer school on the Washington campus and Tyrrell, Dowling and Sam Houston will attend classes on the Tyrrell campus. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. for elementary students.
The elementary programs will offer language arts, science, social studies and math. Optional extended year programs are for students who, without the summer program, are unlikely to progress to the next grade. Parents in both Title I and optional extended year programs should have received letters advising them that their children should attend summer school.
Students in grades six through eight will attend summer school at Lincoln Middle and students in grades nine through 12 will attend classes at Memorial High from 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The middle school program is free to students who are in danger of being retained and who qualify for the optional extended year program.
The high school program is free to all students who are taking courses to make up credits. High school summer school for new credit will be funded with tuition of $100 for full credit and $50 for a half-credit.
