PORT ARTHUR —
While some families were at home watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade or busy preparing for a holiday feast, Tyler Eden was bundled up in a sleeping bag next to a tent outside Best Buy.
Eden, of Nederland, was the first one in line having arrived around 6 a.m. for the 6 p.m. store opening on Thursday. By 10 a.m. there were several vehicles parked near the doors.
The bargain hunter isn’t new to camping out for a sale.
“I did this last year too,” Eden said.
Sales circulars were spread around his lawn chair amongst convenience store coffee cups and blankets. Finding food would be no problem because of the number of fast food restaurants in the proximity.
The reason Eden wanted to be one of the first inside the store was simple — he wanted to buy a laptop, he said.
According to a USA Today article, shoppers a set up camp outside Best buy stores across the country, some arriving as days in advance.
Most stores at Central Mall in Port Arthur are set to open their doors at 6 a.m. Friday while other stores began their sales even earlier.
