Saltgrass to open doors Tuesday

PORT ARTHUR — The much anticipated opening of Saltgrass Steak House is finally here.

The restaurant, located at 7945 Memorial Blvd. in Port Arthur, will officially open doors to its 50th location at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

During a three day period over the weekend the restaurant saw close to 1,000 community members come through for an early sample of the menu, Ken Pierce, divisional vice president for Saltgrass Steak House, said.

Pierce expects to see big crowds coming through on Tuesday.

“We have already spoken to several guest during our pre-open festivities that mentioned they will have a tough time deciding between us and the Beaumont location,” Pierce said.

Port Arthur Mayor Deloris “Bobbie” Prince and her family were part of the community who got a preview of the restaurant on Sunday.

“We thoroughly enjoyed not just the food but the atmosphere as well and our waiter was unbelievable, love him to death,” Prince said. “It was a wonderful evening with my family.”

The newest restaurant in the city shows growth in the community

“It’s good for the City of Port Arthur to have a variety of restaurants,” she said. “Like so many others in Port Arthur, very classy.”

Jeff Branick, Jefferson County Judge, and some members of his family also had a chance to visit the restaurant before opening day. He said the food and the service were great and that the new restaurant will give citizens in Mid and South Jefferson County more choices to pick from.

Saltgrass Steak House started in 1991 in Houston and the first Dallas location was opened in 1996 and expanded to Central Texas in 1998.

“The recent opening was in Midland, Texas and our Port Arthur location will be our 50th location,” Pierce said.

The most popular menu items, he said, are the “Range Rattlers, 12 oz. Certified Angus Beef Ribeye and the 2 Fork Cheesecake.”

Saltgrass Steak House is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
