Belaire hopes to keep seat on board

— Longtime school board trustee Craig Belaire has a motto, “The children our are future.”
Belaire, 42, has been on Nederland ISD board since 1999 and is making a run for another term as a trustee.
The candidate said he feels the district is in a state of change, especially within the next 12 to 36 months, as committees work toward a projected November bond election.
Issues important at this time revolve around the bond and looking at district facilities to “make sure students have adequate facilities,” he said.
Belaire, a Lake Charles native, has been in Nederland since 1990 and is a wealth management advisor, assistant vice president at Merrill Lynch in Beaumont.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from McNeese University and a master’s degree in business administration from Lamar University. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Texas.
He is a member of the Nederland Rotary Club and attends St. Charles Church in Nederland.
He is married to Jackie, the owner of Dynamic Dance Wear Etc., and the couple have two daughters.
