The Groves Police Department responded to the following calls from Aug. 20- Aug. 26:
Wednesday, Aug. 20
• A 17-year-old was arrested for public intoxication in the 5000 block of Woodlawn.

Thursday, Aug. 21
• A 19-year-old female was arrested for public intoxication in the 6400 block of Hansen.
• A 41-year-old male was arrested on a warrant in the 5400 block of 39th Street.
• A citizen reported the theft of a set of TV series “Dexter” from an apartment in the 5800 block of West Jefferson.
• While responding to a call in the 300 block of Main Avenue, an officer was forced to shoot and kill a large orange colored pit bull when the dog charged him from inside the house.
• A citizen reported criminal mischief to a swimming pool in the 5500 block of Park.
• On routine patrol in the 5800 block of 25th Street an officer observed a 34-year-old female and a 51-year-old male, both walking unsteadily in the middle of the road. After making contact they were both arrested for public intoxication.

Friday, Aug. 22
• A pink and white back pack and a $30 scratch off Lottery ticket were stolen from a vehicle in the 5200 block of 39th Street.

Saturday, Aug. 23
• A disturbance report was taken in the 4600 block of McKinley.

Sunday, Aug. 24
• A 20-year-old female was arrested on warrants after she was stopped for a traffic violation on West Parkway.
• A 33-year-old male was arrested on Groves warrants in the 6000 block of 25th Street.

Monday, August 25
• A 25-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication in the 3100 block of Ash.
• A disturbance was investigated in the 6400 block of Taylor.
• A Toshiba lap top computer and an Apple Ipod were stolen from a vehicle in the 4200 block of Lincoln.
• Payment was stopped on a check written in the 6100 block of Gulfway.

Tuesday, Aug. 26
• A 31-year-old male was arrested on city ordinance violations in the 2000 block of Beverly Drive.
• A roofer discovered a bullet lodge in the roof of a house in the 2100 block of Ray.

Calls received:
• Miscellaneous calls for service assistance — 140.
• Offense reports filed — 26.
• Motor vehicle accidents investigated — 3.

TIP OF THE WEEK
Attend the next Groves City-Wide Neighborhood Watch Meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 6:00 PM at the Groves Senior Citizen Center, located at 5601 W. Washington. The guest speaker will be Michael Clayton, President/CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas. He will be discuss scam prevention.
