Sea Rim to host kid's fishing event Saturday

First 100 kids get free rod and reel

PORT ARTHUR — Sea Rim State Park will host a very special kid's fishing event Saturday.

Begining at 8 a.m. kids ages 5-15 can check in and start fishing according to park superintendent Ben Herman.

"Bait and tackle will be provided and the first 100 kids to sign in get a free rod and reel and free event t-shirt," Herman said.

Entry into the park is also free along with hot dogs and drinks.

Lunch will be served at noon and at that time awards and prizes will be given out.

"This is our way of promoting fishing for kids and showing the community the great resources we have out at Sea Rim State Park," Herman said.

The event is sponsored by Golden Pass LNG, The Sabine Pilots, Saltwater Angler's League of Texas and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.
