Betty Lou DeBlanc was born on August 07, 1929 to Issac Washington and Rebecca Austin in Beaumont, Texas. She attended Beaumont schools and graduated from Hebert High School in 1947. She later attended and graduated from Dillard University in New Orleans, La. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Gerald Samuel DeBlanc, Sr. in 1954 and to this union four children were born, Gerald, Jr. Michael, Donna (Richard) Gallo, and Lisa DeBlanc.
She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur as a medical technologist for 33 years and at Park Place Hospital for 10 years.
She was devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 55 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 45 years, Gerald DeBlanc, Sr.
She was a devoted mother and wife who believed in the principles of hard work and discipline and instilled those ethics in her children. Despite being in declining health for the last few years she was never one to complain about her maladies and remained a devout Catholic.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, nine grandchildren, Dawn (Previn) Jones, Amber (Vince) Theall, Brittanie and Jennifer DeBlanc, Omari Malik Amn, Jameela Senet Amn, and Djoser Enoch Amn, Xavier and Julian Boose, a special cousin Lionel Pipkin; a special childhood friend, Barbara LeBlanc; and former daughter in law Brenda DeBlanc and a host of friends and relatives.
Wake service at Hannah Funeral Home on Tuesday November 20, 2012 from 6-8PM and funeral Mass at Sacred Heart-St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11Am with visitation from 9-11AM. Internment at Live Oak Memorial Park. Funeral Services entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
