Charles Loye Kemp

NEDERLAND —   Charles Loye Kemp, 66, of Nederland, died Saturday, February 9, 2013, at The Methodist Hospital System, Houston.  He was born on November 1, 1946, in Beaumont, to Dorothy Adams Kemp and William Edward Kemp. Loye spent his career working as a housing inspector with the City of Port Arthur.

   After retirement, he continued working as an entrepreneur and owner of Kemp Properties. Loye was a carpenter and could fix anything. He stayed active and involved in his community as a member of Lutheran Social Services, and also having participated in Extreme Makeover, which aided in helping local Sabine Pass families with their homes. Loye’s favorite saying was “It’s not about me.” He was a participant of ACTS and strived to be a fisher of men. Loye also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

   He was the best friend, the love of her life, his wife, Cecile. Loye will be remembered as a tenderhearted man that worked his whole life, but felt that his most important job of all was being a Paw Paw.

   Survivors include his wife, Cecile Kemp of Nederland; children, Steven Lewis Kemp of San Antonio; Stacie Evans of Austin; Jason Charles Kemp; and Brian Michael Kemp and his wife, Rikki, all of Nederland; grandchildren, Alexander Kemp, Blake Kemp, Kayla Evans, Abigail Evans, Jake Kemp, Jaycie Kemp, Logan Kemp, Chase Kemp, Conner Kemp, and Chance Kemp; great-grandchild, Kyndal Carlquist Kemp; brother, Dean Kemp of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; stepsister, Marion Leone and her husband, Reagan, of Nederland; stepbrother, Louis Ross, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Fannett; and special friend, Debra Garcia.

   Loye is preceded in death by his parents, William Kemp and Dorothy Kemp Ross; stepfather, Louis Ross; twin brother, LeRoy Kemp; brother, Bill Kemp; sister, Thelma Holt; and grandson, Cooper Charles Kemp.

   A gathering of Mr. Kemp’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
