PORT ARTHUR —
Sister Irene Marie Insell Smith was born to the late Fritz and Beulah Insell on August 1, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas. She left her earthly home to enter into her heavenly home on October 30, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones. At an early age, Sister Smith acknowledged Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was a true believer in the power of the Lord. She was a member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church for 86 years.
Irene was united in holy matrimony to the late James Watson Smith on November 19, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. God blessed their union with three daughters, Pamela, Diana and Tyalian. Irene loved unconditionally and took great pride in each of her children and grandchildren and more recently God granted her life to enjoy her first and only great-grandchild.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, three brothers, Grant, George and Henry Insell and two sons in law, Percy Neal and Gerald Williams.
Mrs. Smith leaves the following to cherish her loving memories: three daughters, Pamela Smith Williams of Port Arthur, Texas, Diana Smith Neal of Beaumont, Texas and Tyalian Smith Gauthia of Port Arthur, Texas; six grandchildren, Kemon Neal of Beaumont, Texas, Amber Gauthia Buggs (Bryce) of Austin, Texas, Ashley Neal of Beaumont, Texas, Jared and Jonathan Williams of Port Arthur, Texas and Evan Gauthia of Port Arthur, Texas; one great grandchild, Avenue Milan Buggs of Austin, Texas, special surrogate grandson, Yapphet Chambers; one sister-in-law, Adeline Insell; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank JoAnn Jones, Cookie Phillips, Nawasa Lewis, Cathy Goeky, Mt. Sinai Prayer Group, and the staff of Harbor Hospice for their care and dedication.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the service will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
