Norman LaFleur, Sr., 74, of Groves passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 with his family by his side.
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana on May 12, 1939 to Aline and Clyde La Fleur. He spent his childhood in Elton, LA having many adventures and shared those memories with his family and friends over the years.
At age 12 years, he relocated to Texas where he spent the rest of his life.
He was a member of Golden Gloves and also spent 3 years in the Air Force.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Groves, as well as a member of Masonic Lodge Cosmopolitan #872.
He was also a member of Groves-Port Arthur #953 Order of the Eastern Star, where he served as Worthy Matron in 1991-1992.
He graduated from Lamar University in 1977 with a bachelor in Business Administration.
He enjoyed recalling humorous stories from his childhood, painting, song writing and playing the guitar for many years. He wanted to write a novel; planning it, thinking about it, even read books about writing a book, but never quite got it down. But he shared his idea with us often.
He is preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, a sister, a brother and great-grandson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Pamela Blackwell LaFleur; son, Norman “Skip” LaFleur, Jr., 3 daughters, Dana and husband, Kevin Rozas, Aaran and husband, James Williams and Phyllis Morvant, and one sister, Boots Tupper. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 with a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. at the Groves Masonic Lodge, 5901 Gulf.
