Virginia Wells McMillan Parker, 95, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Port Arthur, Texas, and a longtime resident of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away August 24, 2013. She was born April 27, 1918 to Minor W. and Lela Marie Willett Wells in Haddam, Kansas.
She was a graduate of Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, Oklahoma and taught school for 22 years in South Carolina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, South Carolina and attended the First Christian Church in Port Arthur, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Margo Marie McMillan Hickman; two brothers, William Max Wells and Robert P. Wells; her two husbands, Dupree McMillan and Levi Christy Parker.
She is survived by three nephews, Max Wells, Rob Wells and Ed Wells, several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Bagwell, Dot McMillian and Betty Wood; a son-in-law, Stephen Hickman; her step-daughter, Susan Parker Leigh; and two step-granddaughters, Cynthia Harris and Christyne Harris Schultz.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staffs of Buckner Calder Woods, Beaumont, Texas, Emeritus Beckett Meadows, Austin and Hospice Austin for their loving care of Virginia.
Memorial services will be held in Boiling Springs, SC and Port Arthur, TX at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity in her memory.
