Robert “Bob” Lyon Harrington, 74, currently residing in Cypress, TX formerly of Groves, TX passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Bob was born August 28, 1939 in Kaplan, Louisiana to Dewey and Paula Harrington. He was a member of Florida Avenue Baptist Church and a devout Christian. Bob was a devoted husband of 57 years, a loving daddy to his children and a wonderful gramps to his grandchildren. He was also a hard worker and a friend to everyone. He was a sweet and loving man and known as “Uncle” to the young and old. Bob retired from Huntsman as a Controlman and was given many nicknames throughout his career, such as T-Bob, Hotwater, Rabbit, Tarzan, T-Z, and Hotwater Harry and behind every nickname there’s a story. He loved camping with his family, wood working, listening to his Cajun Music and working in his garden.
Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Paula Trahan; father, Dewey Harrington; brother, Floyd Harrington; grandson, Daniel Shoemaker; and great-grandson, Nickolaus E. Downs, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Harrington of Cypress, TX formerly of Groves, TX; brother, Daniel Harrington and wife, Shirley of Center, TX; daughters, Cynthia Atchison and husband, Laurel of Groves, TX, and Darlene Shoemaker and husband, Loyd of Cypress, TX; son, Edward Harrington and fiancé, Debra Stevens of Winnie, TX; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
