Robert "Bob" Bernard Miguez

PORT ACRES —   Robert “Bob” Bernard Miguez, 86, of Port Acres, Texas passed away at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur on Sunday, April 28, 2013.

   He was born on October 22, 1926 to Mabel Sanders Miguez and Irasel Miguez in Port Arthur, Texas.

   He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Bob was a lifelong resident of Port Acres, where he was very active in the Port Acres Little League and served as President. He also served as Assistant District Administrator for the State of Texas, Little League Incorporated. Bob was a member of the Port Arthur Optimist Club, a lifetime member of The Sportsman Club. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Bob retired from Gulf Oil as a pipefitter after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres.

  Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeff Bell, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Johnny Miguez, his step son, Mike Thompson and his wife, Pat Miguez.

   Bob is survived by his daughters, Sandra Floyd and husband Steve of Port Neches, Texas, Susan Clifton and husband David of Nederland, Texas, his son, Robert Bernard Miguez, Jr. and wife Sheila of Lumberton, Texas along with their mother, Janet Istre of Nederland, Texas. He is also survived by his step daughter, Tammy Thompson of Port Acres, Texas and step son, Marty Thompson of Nederland, Texas, his grandchildren, Britney Miguez, Johnny Spell, Jr., Heather Kelly, Laci Smith, Chad Smith, Nick Smith, Sara Floyd, Timmy Floyd, Josh Todd, Megan Luke and Matthew Miguez as well as numerous great grandchildren.

Bob is also survived by his sister, Shirley Hawthorne of Port Acres, Texas and his brother, Ray Miguez and wife Shelva Dean of Port Acres, Texas along with several nieces and nephews.
