Elton “Buddy” Anderson was born on February 22, 1932 in Groves, TX to the union of Bertha and Willie Anderson. Most of his early years were spent in Houston, TX where he attended school in the Houston ISD. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1956 where most of his duty was in Germany.
Upon returning from active duty he stayed in Houston for a while and relocated to Port Arthur, TX where he would spend the rest of his golden years. On December 11, 1967 he married Doris Ford and to that union were 3 children: Elton, Zelma, and Alton.
He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Anderson, Mother, Bertha Anderson, brother, Samuel Anderson; 2 sisters, Zelma Banks and Mary Ann Cockrell; granddaughter, Loreta Elaine Mouton, great-grandson, Kendrick Deshun Semedo; nephews, Arthur Banks, Waymen Cockrell and goddaughter, Lisa Lynette Ford.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 46 years Doris Anderson; children; 2 sons, Elton Anderson (Renee) and Alton Anderson; 2 daughters, Lena Mae Mouton and Zelma Anderson-Collins; 3 step-daughters, Hattie Hebert (Keith), Mildred Dorsey, and Audrey smith; 1 brother, Willie Anderson (Amy); 3 sisters-in-law, Luverdia Eaglin, Beatrice Ford and Eva Anderson; 1 brother-in-law, Willie Ford (Alice); nephews, Willie Cockrell (Goldia), Tommy Banks, Jamie Foster, and Michael Anderson; special friends, Linda Gomez, Fredia Batiste, Ronald Barton, Jasper Dudley and Flavia Sims; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Ransom E. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
