James J. Lampson

HEMPSTEAD —    James J. Lampson was born in Stafford, Texas, on July 14, 1932, and died on September 14, 2013. He was the second of six children born to the late Julius John Lampson and his wife, the late Nancy (Jebbia) Lampson.

   Jimmy is survived by his wife of sixty years, Naomi “Nomy” (Faris) Lampson, of Hempstead, Texas, and by his three loving daughters, Julie Anne (Lampson) Wagner of Nederland; Angela (Lampson) Leviner of Kingwood; and Lori (Lampson) Walker of Hempstead, Texas.

   He is also survived by his respected sons-in-law, John Wagner, husband of Julie; Paul Leviner, husband of Angela; and Ricky Mellman, husband of Lori. He is survived by his three brothers and their wives and children, J.J. Lampson and his wife, Janet, of Grass Valley California; Gene Lampson and his wife, Shivley, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Nick Lampson and his wife, Susan of Beaumont. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jo (Broussard) Ford and her husband, Bob, of Beaumont; and Frances Lampson Breaux and her husband Bob, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, MariKristen Robert, Johnna Westbrook, Joshua Wagner and Jordan Wagner, children of Julie, all of Nederland.

   He also leaves Mary Payton Leviner, daughter of Paul and Angela Leviner of Kingwood, and MaClay and Skylor Walker, daughter of Lori Walker of Hempstead. He most recently welcomed his three new great grandchildren, twins Brink and Summer, children of Johnna and Adam Westbrook, and Chloe Brooke, daughter of Mary Leviner of Kingwood. Jimmy is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

   As a small child, Jimmy spent his childhood in Beaumont, Texas in the South Park area. He attended schools there and graduated from South Park High School in 1949, he and his wife, Nomy were in the same graduating class. Jimmy attended Lamar College before entering the United States Air Force in 1951. He was stationed in Lakenheath Air Force Base, England, a part of the Strategic Air Command (SAC), where he was in charge of runway lighting for all military planes entering and exiting Lakenheath Air Force base which also served Mildenhall Air Force Base as well.

   Jimmy and his family returned to Beaumont after finishing his tour of duty in England. He immediately set out to begin his dream of owning and operating his own business. He registered his company name in Jefferson County under the name of the Fidelity Exterminating Company. He loved and enjoyed his customers and considered all of them as his best friends.

   A gathering of Mr. Lampson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with A Time for Sharing Memories at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
