Charles A Young

BRIDGE CITY- Charles A Young, 58, of Bridge City died Friday, November 23, 2007 at his residence.

Charles was born September 20, 1949 in Columbus, Mississippi to Hunter and Ilena Young. He was a resident of Bridge City for two years and also lived in the Groves and China, Texas area many years.

Charles was a retired Refinery Inspector for Sun Mobil Oil, and a Marine Corps Veteran. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Burns.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 10:00 am at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Rob Robinson of Fellowship of the Woodlands Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be held Monday November 26, 2007 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Charles is survived by his wife, Vanette Young of Bridge City, Texas; four sons, Scott Young and wife, Amy of The Woodlands, Texas, Jeff Young and wife, Michele of Bridge City, Texas, Trey Smith of Sour Lake, Texas and Michael Smith of Groves, Texas; one sister, Sue Morgan of Sour Lake, Texas; and four grandchildren, Bryce Smith, Kristen Young, Kyler Young, and Owen Young.

JoAnn Thompson

PORT NECHES - JoAnn Thompson, 76, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on November 24, 2007 of heart failure. She was surrounded by her family and friends at her passing.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earl D. Thompson; her father and mother, Floyd and Hazel Forrest, and her sister, Helen Landry.

JoAnn attended Mid County Baptist Church in Mid-County. She loved life and made sure to live it to its fullest. She loved her family and friends immensely. She was an avid Bingo and Pokeno player and loved gathering with her special friends regularly.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Lopez and husband, Johnny; Lana Brown and husband, Joe; granddaughter, Angela Dodson; grandson, Kody Lopez; brother, Jim Forrest and wife, Sharon; brother-in-law, Jerry Thompson and wife, Loretta and sister-in-law Janelle Colville.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, she was also a wonderful aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She also valued her special friend, Bill Franks. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26 at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Pallbearers are Randy Landry, Keith Landry, Brent Landry, Stacey Broussard, Alvin Choate and Jim Tillman.

Christine Diane Dartez Lewing

PORT NECHES- Christine Diane Dartez Lewing, 38, of Port Neches, passed away Friday, November 23, 2007 in Port Neches.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Frank Hodges of Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Christine was born May 30, 1969 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Robert Lester Dartez and Helen Oakley. Christine was a housewife. She also loved and collected angels.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Dartez, sisters, Margaret Lachney, Roberta Hebert, Theresa Gentry, and brother, Robert Dartez, Jr.

Surviving Christine is her husband, Don Lewing, son, Kaleb Lewing, daughter Lacey Lewing both of Port Neches, and her mother, Helen Henry

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Julia Martin, Gwen Vice, Pamela Purdon, Tamie Bornette, Lisa Todd, Billy Bergeaux, Maria Janice, Henry Vail and Billy Vail.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Lewing, Pat Lewing, Glen Lewing, Michael Todd, Bobby Dartez and Billy Bergeaux.

Joseph Distefano III

PORT ARTHUR - Mr. Joseph Distefano III, 83, of Port Arthur passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at St. Mary Hospital.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur; born on May 26, 1924 to parents Joseph Distefano II and Mary Picorino Distefano. He served his country in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He had retired from the US Postal Service after many years of employment and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His family was important to him and his love of his life was restoring antique cars, also he was a member of the antique car club. Mr. Distefano was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Hughes, and grandson, Jesse Smith.

He is survived by his sons, Dan Distefano, Mark Distefano and wife Jeanie, Matt Distefano all of Port Arthur; daughters, Dr. Deborah Scott and Mark of Kerrville, Mary Distefano of Beaumont, Molly Orihuela and husband Lamberto of Woodville, Ann Distefano of Houston; brothers, Father John Distefano of Port Arthur, Sam Distefano of Nederland, Louis Distefano of Groves, Fred Distefano of Silsbee; sisters, Frances Cascio of Port Arthur, Elizabeth Vardaman of Orange, Lucille Piazza of Port Arthur, Phyllis Smith of Groves, six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. John Distefano officiating. A burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
