Hazel Beatrice Baker

Hazel Beatrice Baker, 91 of Katy, Texas formerly of Port Arthur died Sunday, July 8, 2007

Hazel was born on February 1, 1916 in Port Arthur, Texas to Kenneth Warren and Mabel Burnette Warren. She was a lifelong Port Arthur resident until moving to Katy in 1997. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Port Arthur and presently a member of Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy.

Graveside services will be at 3:00p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at All Souls Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Brian Haynes associate pastor of Kingsland Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Levingston Funeral in Groves.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil H. Baker and son, Cecil W. Baker. Survivors include her daughter, Mabel Abboud; five grandchildren, George Abboud, Sami Abboud, Angela Haynes, Kerrie Hunt, and Michael Baker.

William Morris “Bill” English, Sr.

NEDERLAND - William Morris “Bill” English, Sr., 82, of Nederland passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2007 with Brother George Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the mortuary.

Bill was born in Newton, TX and lived his adult life in Nederland. He retired from Texaco Refinery in 1983. He served in the Navy during WWII and retired from the Army National Guard.

Bill was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Nederland and also a member of Cosmopolitan Port Arthur Lodge No. 1264 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. English is survived by his loving wife Gloria Henderson English of Nederland; daughter, Mary Hudson and husband Ronnie of Nederland; son, William M. “Bill” English Jr. of Nederland; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The English family would like to thank Dr. Kotzur, The Medical Center’s Doctors, Nurses and Staff, and Aline and Lindy Gothia and their family for all their care and support during this trying time.

Jeff “J.W.” Moye

NEDERLAND-Jeff “J.W.” Moye, 85, of Nederland, Texas passed away July 9, 2007. J.W. was born in Hull Daisetta, Texas on March 1, 1922 to Garland and Ada Moye, He worked for Gulf Oil Corporation. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in WWII in the South Pacific on Iwo Jima.

J.W. married Bobbie R. Volentine on December 19, 1947, the love of his life. They had three wonderful children, James Travis Moye, Diane Moye and Rickey Lynn Moye.

He is survived by two sons, James Travis Moye and wife, Wilda of Woodville, and Ricky Lynn Moye and wife, Lyn of Nederland; daughter, Diane Durso and husband, Carlos of Nederland; ten grandchildren, Rachel Guinn, C.K. Moye, Todd Moye, B.J. Moye, Julie Moye, Jake Moye, Cindy Ashcraft, James Durso, Melissa Wood, and Alison Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie R. Moye and his parents.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Rev. Malcolm Monroe officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Carl B. Russell

GROVES - Carl B. Russell, 102, of Groves, Texas died Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Magnolia Manor.

Carl was born on April 9, 1905 in Shelby County, Texas to Sidney Russell and Carrie Head Russell. He was a resident of Groves for 66 years and retired from Pipefitters Local #195 after 25 years of service as a pipefitter.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at White Rock Cemetery Chapel in Shelby County, Texas followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Gary Hinton will officiate and burial will be under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edra Russell; sister, Edna Darnell; brothers, Desmon Russell and Nathan Russell. Survivors include his daughter, Esther Hinton and husband, Bobby of Groves, Texas; four grandchildren, Pamela Choate and husband, Chris of Port Neches, Texas, Gary Hinton and wife, Laura of Bridge City, Texas, Stephen Hinton and wife, Denise of Port Neches, Texas, Rebecca Alderman and husband, Bill of Wright City, Missouri; ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

Josephine Stone

PORT ARTHUR - Josephine Stone, 85, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at her residence in Port Arthur with her loving family at her side.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Waco Memorial Funeral Home in Waco, Texas with Pastor Scott Wallace of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Grammier - Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Edgar Romney Stone of Port Arthur; daughters, Brenda Roberts and her husband Rodney Roberts; Shelley McClain and her husband Sammy McClain; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Halbert, Bebe Benjamin and sister-in-law, Helen Gibson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine was born on June 7, 1922, in Eddy, Texas to William Earl and Josephine Gibson. She moved to Port Arthur in 1945 where she and Edgar lived for thirty-six years. After retirement they moved to Wildwood for eight years, Waco for twelve years, then back to Port Arthur. Josephine taught China painting in Port Arthur and Wildwood for twenty years; she was a member of Rainbow Porcelain Arts Club in Port Arthur and Texas Federation of Porcelain Art Teachers. She also volunteered at the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur. She was also a member of First Christian Church in Port Arthur where she was a deaconess and Lakewood Christian Church in Waco. She was past president of the CWF in both churches.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, James Looney, Stephen Looney, Michael Hughes, Matthew Hughes, sons-in-laws, Rodney Roberts and Sammy McClain. Honorary Pallbearers will be Zachary Thibodeaux, Joshua Hughes and Hunter Scott.

Joseph “Bud” Thibodeaux

PORT ARTHUR-Joseph “Bud” Thibodeaux, passed away on July 8, 2007, at the age of 84.

He was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Texas, where he retired from Texaco Oil Refinery after 36 years of service. He was also a US Army WWII veteran and National Guardsman, as well as an Honor Guard and member of the VFW Post 9822 in Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents Noah and Nellie Thibodeaux, brother Gerald Thibodeaux and sister Thelma.

He is survived by his loving wife Louise of 52 years and one Don Roberts (Debbie) of Port Arthur. Three grandchildren, Kim Toutcheque (George), Amber Arnold (Steve) and Aaron Roberts, Four great - grandchildren Dominic Toutcheque, Baylee, Taylor and Alyson Arnold. He is also survived by two sisters, Gloria Lemoine and Kitty Dupuis (Melvin).

And a very special niece Becky Naibert, with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services are pending at Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne, Louisiana.
