PORT ARTHUR - Anderson Jones, 77, of Port Arthur, Texas died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his home.
Anderson was born on February 16, 1930 in Clarks, Louisiana to Gus Jones and Alzena Davis. He was a resident of Port Arthur for over 50 years and a member of both the Golden Light and Astronaut Civic and Social Clubs. He retired from Bethlehem Steele Shipyard, where he worked for may years as a machinist foreman.
Visitation is Saturday, April 28th at 9:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jones; three sisters, Edna Ruth Davis, Elnora Overa Starks, and Doris Inez Towers. Survivors include four daughters, Paula Hawkins, Cheryll Glover-Albert, and Nicole Jones, all of Port Arthur and Roslin Henderson of Houston, TX; on son, Richard Glover of Port Arthur, TX; two sisters, Alease Smith and Alzena White, both of Houston, TX; five brothers, John D. Jones, Eddie Davis, and Jessie Davis, all of Port Arthur, TX, Tommy Davis, of Houston, TX, and Gus Jones, of Boston, MA; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ruth Emma McIntosh
NEDERLAND - Ruth Emma McIntosh, 83, of Nederland passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at her residence in Nederland.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Smith-Ogle Funeral Home in Oxford, Ohio with interment to follow at the Oxford Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends was held form 5 to 8 PM Thursday evening at Broussard’s in Nederland.
Mrs. McIntosh was a native of Oxford, Ohio, and lived in Nederland for 4 years. She retired as an executive secretary with General Motors with several years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E.L. and Lillian Ruth McIntosh; two sisters, Martha Boyer, Eleanor Chandler and her brother, Tommy McIntosh.
Mrs. McIntosh was survived by her three brothers, Jim McIntosh of Florida, Robert McIntosh of Ohio, and Donald McIntosh of California; four sisters, Catherine Hill of Ohio, Sara Gilmore of Ohio, Marilyn Spaulding of California, and Helen Metreyeon of Nederland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pamela Lanese Newton
PORT ARTHUR - Pamela Lanese Newton of Port Arthur died Thursday April 19, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a native and life long resident of Port Arthur for 41 years. She was a homemaker, a 1984 Graduate of Lincoln High School and a member of Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
Pamela was born December 18, 1965 to the late Earline Samuels Newton and the late Frank Newton.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Michael (Side Ways) Williams; step-son, Cedric Wilson Williams; 3 sisters, Barbara Clay Young (Richmond, CA), Dorothy Newton Woods (Memphis, TN), and Rose Mary Holt (Shreveport, LA); 2 brothers, Frank Newton, Jr. (Houston, TX) and Michael Ray Samuels (Port Arthur, TX); 3 sisters-in-law, Lora, Anna, and Anetia; 1 brother-in-law, Ellis; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for April 28, 2007 at 9AM until 11AM at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services is scheduled for 11AM on April 28, 2007 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Frank Phillips officiating.
Wilma V. Sonnier
NEDERLAND - Wilma V. Sonnier, 83, of Nederland passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 28, 2007 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Reverend Dan Malain celebrating. Rite of Committal will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 8:00 pm Friday, April 27, 2007 with a vigil service and rosary beginning at 6:00 pm Thursday at Broussard’s in Nederland.
Wilma was preceded in death by his wife, Willa Mae Sonnier, and his son, Glynn Michael Sonnier, his parents, Numa and Lo Cadie Sonnier. He was a native of Port Arthur and lived in the Golden Triangle area all of his life. He was also a member of Les Acadiens du Texas and a member of Painters Local Union 130.
Wilma is survived by his daughter, Lynnette Simmons and husband Rochelle of Nederland; son, Martin Joseph Sonnier Sr. and wife Eula of Groves; sister, Myrlene Wilsford and husband John of San Marcus; brother, Jerry Sonnier and wife Dot of Port Neches; grandchildren, Michael Sonnier, Jennifer Rabalais, Kimberly Tucker, Daniel Sonnier, Joseph Simmons, Marty Jo Sonnier Jr., Janice Wilson, Jeffrey Simmons, Paul Sonnier; 15 great grandchildren.
