Mrs. Bessie Mildred Lumbley
CONROE-Mrs. Bessie M. Lumbley, 94, of Conroe, Texas passed peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2006 at Hearthstone Assisted Living.
She was a native of Port Arthur, Texas, born on February 1, 1912 to parents Michael Everett Peveto and Lou Alice Parrish Peveto. She had lived the last three years in Conroe and was a member of Church of Christ of Spring. Mrs. Bessie Lumbley was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Lou Peveto: husband, William Eustace Lumbley: siblings, John, Eugene, Louie Peveto and Fannie Keene.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn J. Brown of Spring, TX, and Shirley M. Hart of Shreveport, LA: sister, Dorothy Beaumont of Groves; granddaughters, Deborah K. Novosad and her husband Mike of Houston, Rebecca A. Kolaja and her husband Brett of Missouri City, TX, Vickie L. Nichols and her husband Rick of Bethany, LA: grandson, Russell W. Hart of Shreveport, LA: three great grandsons, Nicholas W. Novosad and his wife Tawny of Corpus Christi, TX, Jon Brandon Kolaja of Huntsville, TX, William Travis Kolaja of Missouri City, TX: one great granddaughter, Lauren M. Novosad of Houston, TX, and two step great grandsons through the Nichols marriage.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2006 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with Brother David Echols and Brother David Brown officiating. A burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Sandra “Jane” Pruett Walker
GROVES- Sandra “Jane Pruett Walker, 53, of Groves, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
She was born on July 29, 1952 in Port Arthur, Texas to Howard Pruett and Mildred Brownlee Pruett. Jane was a life long resident of this area and had worked at Academy Sports and Outdoors.
A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, July 25, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. The funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Charles Miller of First Baptist Church in Groves officiating.
Jane is survived by her life partner, Tommy May of Nederland; son, Jarrod Thomas Walker and wife Whitney, of Fort Riley, Kansas; sister, Judy Lyons of Groves; her heart sister, Vicki Womack of Nederland; and brother, Gene Pruett and wife Glenda of Port Neches.

Gordon Louis Welch
PORT ARTHUR- Gordon Louis Welch, 71, of Port Arthur, passed away on Friday evening, July 21, 2006 at Gulf Health Care Center.
A native of Beaumont, Texas, he lived in Sabine Pass/Port Arthur for most of his life. He retired from Sabine Pilots as a Pilot Captain after 39 years of service.
Visitation will be on Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ted Kennedy officiating, at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette Welch of Port Arthur; his son, G. Christopher Welch of Port Arthur; step children, Nolan Ray Meyers and his wife, Brenda of West Orange, Randall A. Meyers and his wife, Carolyn of Vidor, Mark Steven Meyers of Port Arthur; step grandchildren, Brian David Meyers and Randall A. Meyers, Jr. both of Mauriceville, Hunter Meyers of Bridge City, Shelia K. Trahan of North Carolina; step great grandchildren, Kevin and Michelle Meyers, Colton and Hunter Meyers; sister, Betty Jane Meaux of Lockport, Louisiana.
LABELLE- Linus Binz, 90, of LaBelle, passed away July 21, 2006 at his residence.
Mr. Binz was born June 1, 1916 in Paris, Arkansas and had been a resident of the mid-county area since 1943. He was retired from Texaco after 36 years of service and was member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman that enjoyed traveling with his loving wife. He also enjoyed flea market gatherings.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary L. Binz; son, Charles Binz and wife, Ruth Anne all of LaBelle; one granddaughter, Sherri Choate, two great grandchildren, Ciarra an Austin Choate, all of Fort Worth; three sisters, LaVern Farrington of Champagne, Illinois, Lucille Smith and Lorene Mantooth, both of Charleston, Arkansas.
Mr. Binz was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Irene Binz, a grandson Shannon Binz, and four brothers.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2006 at Broussard’s Mortuary, 505 12th St. in Nederland, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Reverend Dan Malain presiding. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.
