Mary Nell Stanley

ALTO —    Alto - Funeral  services for Mary Nell Stanley, 87, of Alto and formerly of Port Arthur will be Friday, July 11th at 2:00 PM at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home in Alto with Rev. Edwin Finley  officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home in Alto.

   Mrs. Stanley passed away Tuesday, July 8th, in Tyler. She was born June 13, 1927 in Alto, Texas to James Alford & Leslie Lynn( Bolton) Liles. Her twin sister and mother died on June 19th and August 17th of that same year. She graduated High School in Addicks, Texas in 1944 as Salutatorian. She was very athletic and even appeared in an episode of The Little Rascals as a girl. She married the love of her life, Rayford  C. Stanley,  July 11, 1946 and spent 59 years in Port Arthur, Texas where she was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She attended church there for over 55 years and taught Sunday School for over 25 years. She also served as a teacher's aide at the Christian school for several years. She was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to helping others. In her final years she enjoyed spending time with her sons and her beloved cats, or babies as she called them. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 47 years, Rayford C. Stanley, twin sister, Helen Zell Liles, sister, Ruth Mildred (Liles) Nelson and brothers, Desmond Ray Liles and James William Liles.

   Surviviors include: Sons;   Ralph C. Stanley and Mark David Stanley both of Alto, TX; Daughter, Brenda Susan Williams of Livingston, TX; 4 Grandchildren; Her babies (cats)
