Otis Simpson

PORT ARTHUR —    Mr. Otis Simpson of Port Arthur died Monday, June 30, 2014 in his home with his loving wife Gladiola by his side. He was born in Bunkie, Louisiana. He retired from the Port Arthur Independent School District as a truck driver. He was Chairman of the Deacon Board at 7th Street Baptist Church where he also served as Male Chorus President and also was a member of the church choir.  

   Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Simpson Sr and Hazel Simpson, his grandmother Emma Coleman, his brother Henry Simpson Jr, his son Otis Ray Simpson Jr, his stepson Woodrow Keal, his stepdaughter Lynn Prevost and the mother of his children Louise Simpson Perry. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 29 years Gladiola Simpson of Port Arthur, sister Betty Floyd of Oakland, California, 3 daughters, Faye Shepherd (Willie Jr.), Gaynell Sanders (Carl), and Catherine Matthews (Willie), all of Port Arthur, son Andy Simpson (Hynichia) of Port Arthur, 6 stepsons Leon Keal (Geneva), Leonard Keal Sr. (Sandra), Cornelius Keal Sr. (Sharon), Billy Keal, Cleveland Keal (Gloria), Michael Keal Sr (Pernella) all of Port Arthur, 3 stepdaughters Verna Gardner of Birmingham, Alabama, Theresa St. Ann (Kevin) and Elizabeth Woods (Michael Sr) both of Port Arthur, godchildren Debbie Jackson, Monique Joseph, and Chiquita Martin of Port Arthur, 54 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

   Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 9 a.m. until service time at Seventh Street Baptist Church, A burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
