PORT ARTHUR —
Elton “El-Buh” Mims Sr. was born on November 17, 1952 to the union of Minnesota and Joseph Mims. On Saturday, July 20, 2013 he peacefully transitioned from this life and received his promise of eternal life with our Lord. He accepted Christ at an early age.
Elton was reared in Valverda, LA. He was educated in the Pointe Coupee Parish Public School system. He resided in Port Arthur, Texas until he was called home.
He was preceded in death by his parents Minnesota and Joseph Mims. Four brothers; Frankie, Harrison, Charlie, and his twin brother Felton Mims; two sisters, Ira Mae Mims and Cheryl Mims Dixon and two infant grandchildren Precious and Paige Richard.
Elton leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters Sonia (Leo) Gobar of Houston, Texas; Alicina (Tootie) Hardie of Port Arthur, Tara (Micheal) Jacobis of Sugarland, Texas; Nicole Kelly of Houston, Texas. Three sons, Theodore (TJ) Hardie of Port Arthur, Dominic Hardie of Houston, Texas, and Elton Mims Jr. of Port Arthur; eight grandchildren; two brothers, James (Joyce) Mims and Leroy (Roberta) Mims of Port Arthur, Texas. one sister in law Ella Mae Mims of Maringouni La., a long-time friend and companion Adlene Sampson of Port Arthur, A special aunt and uncle Hamilton and Dorothy Buckner of Port Arthur. A devoted godmother; Mary (Sue) Adams of Livonia, Louisiana; one god daughter Charlotte Mims, of Maringouin Louisiana and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be Saturday July 27, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.m., with services immediately following at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. John R. Adolph officiating. Burial will be held on Sunday, July 28th at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church, Blanks, La. Services are under the direction of Hannah Funeral Home.
