Mrs. Viola Brown Thornton "Momma Vi"

   Mrs. Viola Thornton affectionately  known as “Momma Vi” entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 9th after a brief illness.

   She was the daughter of the Late Thomas and Nancy Brown.

   Viola was a faithful and active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she participated in various organizations, until her health diminished.

   “Momma Vi” is preceded in death by her parents and two sons; Thomas and Allen Louis Thornton.

   She leaves to cherish her memories a loving family; Benjamin (Dolores) Thornton of Atlanta, Georgia, Malone Thornton of Port Arthur, Texas; 4  grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Viana (Robert) Butler, and Lena Alexander of Baton Rouge, LA. and a host of other relatives and friends.

   “Momma Vi” also leaves to cherish her memories her extended family, Gerald (Angel) Thornton of Port Arthur, TX. and Audery (Joseph) Thornton-Pitre of Beaumont, Texas.

   A Celebration of her Life and Legacy will be held Saturday, November 16th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 924 Booker T. Washington Ave.

   Viewing will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 9:00 A.M. followed by funeral service beginning at 10:00 A.M... Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Park under the direction of Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.

   She will be missed by many who knew and loved her.

   The family of “Momma Vi” is grateful for the loving care provided by Oak Grove Nursing Facility and Odyssey Hospice (A GENTIVA COMPANY).
