PORT ARTHUR —
Leroy “Roy” Chapman, 94, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Sunday, January, 6, 2013. He was born November 5, 1919 to Rufus and Viola Chapman in Charleston, South Carolina. Leroy has been a resident of Port Arthur for 67 years. He retired from Texaco. He served on the North Dakota Merchant Ship and traveled the world extensively. He was also a Veteran and served as a merchant marine. He was a member of First Christian Faith Baptist Church and was an active member until his death. was a member of the Seaman’s Local of Port Arthur, Texas. Leroy was a wonderful father and grandfather.
Leroy is survived by his sisters Theodosha Procter, Alice Chapman, and Lean Chapman all of Charleston, SC; daughter Leona Dove and son in law Gerald Dove of Port Arthur, Texas; grandchildren Tracey and Ronald Gabriel, Brandon Gabriel, Dr. Chuck Ball of Nashville, Tennessee, Jody Ball of Fresno, Texas; great grandchildren Kearston and Charles Thomas, Christian Ball, Chase Stewart, Macy Ball, and great great-granddaughter Kaycie Thomas.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2012 at First Christian Faith Baptist Church.
