Mr. William David Crockett, Jr.

PORT ARTHUR —    Mr. William David Crockett, Jr., age 68, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on August 8, 1945 to William D. Crockett, Sr. and Alice J. Crockett.  This husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, transitioned from labor to reward on Sunday, April 13th.

William was a fun loving soul with a huge personality.  He never met a stranger and always made those around him feel comfortable.  By being co-owner of Crockett Enterprises, William used his business savvy to sell items and simultaneously make friendships while witnessing for the Lord.

He had a passion for helping the elderly and those in need.  Thus, as founder of the ‘Family of Love Foundation’, he had an avenue to do just that.  He found much enjoyment in encouraging pastors and ministers in our community.  He would give them caps and/or t-shirts which read his favorite sayings, “God Has Been So Good To Me” or “With God All Things Are Possible”.

William would willingly support and contribute to fund raisers or projects being held by the youth in our community or at any church, as well as supporting the outreach efforts of God 1st Community Ministry.  In his spare time, William enjoyed telling jokes and stories, watching sports and comically playing dominoes with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sons Shawn Christopher Crockett and Michael Tyrone Crockett.  He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 42 years, Bernadine Jones Crockett; two sons ~ Nakia Crockett of Port Arthur, Texas and Harry J. Prudhomme, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two daughters ~ Natasha Crockett of Humble, Texas and India Stampley of Atlanta, Georgia; 8 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one god-child.

William will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.

Join us in a celebration of William's life, with a visitation on Saturday, April 19th, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. and a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1919 Jefferson Drive, Port Arthur, TX 77642.  Pastor Albert Moses, Jr. of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church will officiate and Dr. John Adolph, Pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, will render the eulogy.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
