PORT ARTHUR —
Betty Jean (Booker) Alexander of Port Arthur Texas died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont Texas. A native of Magnolia Springs Texas, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 66 years. She was a member and founder of the Barnett Chapel COGIC for 60 plus years.
A visitation is scheduled at Barnett Chapel COGIC, 1749 Gulfway Drive on Friday May 10, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm funeral service is at 11am Saturday morning, with Reverend Leo Lane Senior officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery on West Port Arthur Road under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Betty was preceded in death by her Husband Lloyd Alexander II Senior, father and mother, A. G. Booker, Nina Bean Hawkins, Brother John Wesley Briscoe, Sister Luvenia Shelton, Brother A.G. Booker and Willie Booker.
Survivors include her children Gerry Howard of Jackson Mississippi, Lloyd Alexander III Senior of Beaumont, Christopher Alexander of California, Ellen Allison of Port Arthur, Lance & Vernell Alexander of Shreveport Louisiana, Grayling & Heronica Alexander of Galveston, Lynson & Patrice Alexander of Houston, Jean & Darwin Pouncy of Beaumont, and Pandora & James H. Walker of Port Arthur Texas.
Siblings include, oldest sister Preinkler Heath, Brother Wesley Booker, Sisters Juanita Madie Ward, Joyce Turk, Audrey Johnson, Kathleen Faye Williams. Special nieces Wanda Faye Heath, Shirley Lonnette, and Gloria Marcel. Betty had 34 Grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and church members; she leaves to cherish her memories.
